Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and secure it on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Apply penetrating oil to control arm fasteners and ball joint if needed.
- Support the lower control arm with a jack or stand to relieve tension on the upper control arm.
- Disconnect any sway bar links or ancillary items attached to the upper control arm.
- Remove the upper ball joint nut and separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using a separator or pickle fork.
- Remove the mounting bolts that secure the upper control arm to the frame or strut tower.
- Remove the old control arm and compare to the new part to confirm correct orientation and preinstalled components.
- Position the new upper control arm and loosely install frame/strut bolts to hold it in place.
- Reconnect the ball joint to the steering knuckle and install the nut; torque to manufacturer specification.
- Torque the upper control arm mounting bolts to the factory-specified values with the suspension at ride height if required by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Reattach any sway bar links or ancillary components removed earlier.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque the wheel lug nuts to specification.
- Take the vehicle for a professional alignment after installation to ensure proper camber, caster, and toe settings.
